Service Description

Taylor Forged knives is offering fully guided knifemaking course for people to Learn and experience the craft of knifemaking with courses that are designed to guide people through all the steps from designing to forging to final knife sharpening and all the steps in-between.  this is a great opportunity for people to experience the joy of creating a beautiful yet functional tool transformed from raw materials. This course will be a intensive full day guided course making a chefs knife, covering designing, forging, heat treatment, blade grinding, handle making and fitting and knife sharpening.  Course details/considerations: the course will run from 8.45am till 6pm with a 30 minute  lunch break during the tempering stage.  To  feasibly make a finished knife within one day there will be limitations to the knife made on the day, the knife will be made from Mono-steel, the knife will be a Hidden tang construction (the blade tang will fit inside of the handle) the blade will be limited to a medium chefs knife size which will be no more than 50mm tall and 200mm long. blade bevels will be finished on the belt grinder.  people with physical and medical limitations/conditions please note the forging part is physically demanding.  knifemaking is dirty work so please dress accordingly i.e. shoes/boots, full length pants, t-shirt/long sleeve t shirt that is okay to get dusty, full safety wear will be provided.  I wish to run courses that will allow people to have the time and possibility to create the Knife they wish to use during the course, as this may not be achievable with the limitations of a standard course and dates provided, please contact me with your request and I will be happy to discuss and arrange a course to suit your needs.  if you have any questions or need further details regarding the course please contact me.
