Stone polishing is a process in which the knife bevels are ground and polished using various synthetic/natural stones of varying grits to achieve a polished finish of the knife bevels, from satin, hazy mirror "kasumi" to full mirror polish.

Hand engraving is the process of removing metal using "gravers" micro chisel like tools, this is done slowly and meticulously line by line to create a intricate design weather it is text or ornate scrollwork.  

Different tools can create varying engravings from basic linework text to a deep relief images.

pattern welded steel, commonly known as "Damascus" is where two or more different metals are forged welded together at high temperatures to create one homogenous steel billet, this is them manipulated by folding, cutting, stacking and grinding to create pattern in the steel, this is then shown when the billet is acid etched and the contrast is shown by the varying resistance to the acid.
